Islamabad: As spring arrives in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the pollen levels are on the rise, causing difficulties for allergy sufferers.

Meteorologists predict that pollen levels will continue to increase, reaching their peak by the last week of March 2024.

During the next two weeks, the concentration of pollen is expected to significantly rise. It is crucial for individuals with pollen allergies to take precautionary measures to alleviate symptoms and reduce exposure.

Residents in Islamabad are becoming increasingly concerned as the pollen season progresses, experiencing allergic reactions such as coughing, flu-like symptoms, throat irritation, and mild headaches.

The main types of pollen found in Islamabad include Paper Mulberry, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Pines, Grasses, Cannabis, Dandelion, and Alternaria.

Among these, Paper Mulberry constitutes about 97 percent of the total pollen count. Its concentration can reach extreme levels, peaking at around 45,000 particles per cubic meter of air during the blossom season.

Residents are advised to stay updated on pollen forecasts and take necessary precautions to safeguard their health during this period of heightened pollen activity.
