News Desk

Islamabad: The National Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has confirmed Pakistan’s 14th polio case of 2025, with the latest infection reported in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Polio Reference Laboratory, the affected child is 19 months old. This latest case raises the country’s total polio count to 14 this year, with eight cases reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In response, the EOC has announced a targeted vaccination campaign in 11 union councils of North Waziristan to prevent further spread of the virus.

Health officials have reiterated the urgency for parents to ensure their children receive polio drops during every immunization campaign and complete their routine vaccinations on time.

Pakistan remains among the few countries where wild poliovirus transmission persists, underscoring the need for continued vigilance, timely vaccination, and community cooperation to achieve eradication.
