Islamabad: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Security Division, Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, issued new directives on Wednesday to bolster security in Islamabad’s high-security red zone, emphasizing the protection of embassies, government institutions, and private offices as a top priority.
An official spokesperson informed APP that the Islamabad Police is working diligently under the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to maintain law and order across the capital.
SSP Virk highlighted that police personnel are effectively carrying out their duties to safeguard sensitive installations, including embassies, ambassadorial residences, United Nations offices, and other critical sites within the Diplomatic Enclave.
The SSP further stressed that no negligence or carelessness will be tolerated during duty hours. He insisted that strict registration and screening processes be implemented for all individuals entering the red zone.
In line with these directives, Virk instructed officers to thoroughly inspect vehicles and motorcycles entering the area. He also emphasized that government employees must carry official identification and cooperate fully with security personnel.
“We are utilizing all available resources to ensure the safety and security of Islamabad,” SSP Virk added. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or individuals via the Pucar-15 emergency helpline.
The protection of citizens’ lives and property, the SSP affirmed, remains a top priority for the Islamabad Police.
