Islamabad: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday that a joint action by Police and Rangers in the Kacha area had targeted dacoits following two meetings chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari on improving law and order.

He emphasized plans to launch a drug-testing campaign in schools from July 1. Speaking at the Sindh Assembly, Memon stated that all departments, including Police, had reported their progress to the President.

The crackdown on dacoits would persist, with Memon suggesting that those not involved in serious crimes should surrender, allowing for negotiation and rehabilitation.

He assured that even captured dacoits would be given an opportunity to reform. Regarding tribal disputes, Memon advocated for reconciliation committees to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

He reiterated a policy of zero tolerance towards drug dealers and affirmed the government’s stance on criminals relinquishing arms.

Memon also highlighted improvements in Karachi’s street crime situation since January, attributing progress to new police weaponry and the leadership of President Zardari.

He mentioned the setup of heatwave camps for public relief and preparedness for rain emergencies across Sindh. Lastly, Memon stressed the importance of national unity and harmony.
