Police Arrest Man for ‘Strangling’ Wife, Hiding Body in Trunk

Islamabad: In a swift operation, the Islamabad Capital Police and the Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) arrested a man suspected of strangling his wife and concealing her body in a trunk at their residence in the Bhara Kahu area.
The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the Bhara Kahu police station. The suspect, identified as Ikhlaq, allegedly murdered his wife and hid her body in a trunk inside the house.
An official confirmed to APP that following directives from DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, police teams, including the Homicide Investigation Unit, employed modern forensic and technical methods to track down the accused and make the arrest in a short span of time.
A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Bhara Kahu police station by the victim’s brother, Muhammad Iqbal.
It was reported that the victim had entered into a love marriage with Ikhlaq four months ago, marking her second marriage.
DIG Tariq assured that the suspect would be presented before the court with substantial evidence to ensure strict legal action.
One Arrested for Illegally Selling Birds in Layyah
Layyah: The Wildlife Department in Layyah has intensified its crackdown on illegal wildlife traders, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of unlawfully traded birds.
Deputy Director Naeem Tahir spearheaded the operation, which took place in the jurisdiction of Thana Fatehpur, near Dasu Minor. Authorities raided Margalla Hotel and several shops involved in the illegal sale of birds. During the operation, a suspect named Asghar was apprehended, and the illegally sold birds were seized.
Following the operation, police registered a case based on the complaint filed by the Deputy Director of Wildlife, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
The Wildlife Department reiterated its commitment to protecting wildlife and promised strict action against individuals involved in illegal wildlife trading.
