Islamabad: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) commenced the month-long run of ‘Saadhay 14 August,’ a highly anticipated play by the legendary Anwar Maqsood, on Saturday. The captivating performances are set to enthral residents of the twin cities until February 7, promising an extended period of entertainment at the PNCA.
Directed by Dawer Mehmood, the play is produced by KopyKats Productions, which has a rich history of creating innovative and top-notch Urdu theatre plays since 2007.
After successfully completing 100 performances in Karachi, ‘Saadhay 14 August’ is now in Islamabad to provide amusement and satire for fun-seekers.
“Written by the acclaimed Anwar Maqsood, the play was able to draw audiences from all backgrounds, as well as people of all ages and genders. From the first performance till the very last, it attracted sold-out audiences,” said Arts Council of Pakistan President Ahmed Shah.

Some of the most well-known national figures from the past and present are featured in the play. It is the third of a trilogy that began ten years ago with the performance of ‘Pawnay 14 August’. The series’ concluding chapter, ‘Saadhay 14 August’, honours its completion.
The legendary writer stated, “This series is very dear to my heart and was created while preserving a positive attitude and taking into account the current state of the country. In Islamabad, we anticipate that ‘Saadhay 14 August’ will enjoy the same degree of support that it has in Karachi.”
President M. Ahmed Shah said, “Anwar Maqsood has genuinely brought theatre back to Pakistan, and when it is his screenplay, we are sure it will be liked and admired by the people and will draw big crowds to the theatre.”
Daawar Mehmood commented, “We intend to surpass the crowd’s expectations in Islamabad, like we did in Karachi. Anwar Maqsood’s brilliant script, outstanding performance, and scenes and sets that are meticulously constructed with attention to detail of each region being portrayed are all present and correct in the play, which has everything needed for a successful theatrical presentation.”
This play is the ideal illustration of how a serious issue may be treated in a light-hearted, enjoyable, and amusing manner while still grabbing the audience’s attention.
