PMD Predicts Warmer Days Ahead for Karachi

News Desk

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday forecast a slight rise in temperatures across Karachi over the next few days due to a depression developing in the Arabian Sea.

According to a weather advisory issued by the Met Office, the system has moved northeast over the past 24 hours and is influencing weather conditions in southern Pakistan. The depression is currently located about 712 kilometres from Karachi and 330 kilometres from Gujarat, India.

However, the PMD clarified that the system poses no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas and is expected to weaken within the next 24 hours. As a result, lighter winds are likely to prevail in Karachi, with northeast winds blowing at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.

The department added that weather across most districts of Sindh will remain hot and dry, while partly cloudy conditions are expected in southeastern coastal areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted dry weather across most parts of the country on Saturday, with cold conditions likely to prevail in hilly regions during morning and night hours.

According to the Met Office, the ongoing dry spell coupled with rising atmospheric pollution is expected to keep several districts of Punjab under the influence of smog. Citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from potential health hazards.

In the federal capital and adjoining areas, the weather will remain dry with slightly cold mornings and nights. Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to experience dry weather, while hilly regions will remain chilly during early and late hours.

In Punjab, dry conditions will continue in most parts, including Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hill stations. However, smog or fog is likely to persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, and nearby regions.
