PMD Predict Rain, Wind-Thunderstorm In Parts Of Country

Islamabad/Peshawar: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, wind-thunderstorm, and dust storms in various parts of the country during the course of the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Meteorological Center (PMC) Peshawar on Thursday forecasted that partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected in most districts of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province

The synoptic situation indicated that a westerly wave is anticipated to hit much of the country on Thursday and is expected to enter the upper parts. Much of the country is predicted to see cloudy or partly cloudy weather.

However, in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper, KP south Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh, rain, wind, thunderstorms, and dust storms are anticipated.

PMD stated that most of the country saw dry weather over the past 24 hours. The highest maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours are Khairpur, Sibbi, Rohri, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Rahim Yar Khan and Khanpir 37°C.

KP Weather Update: PMC said thatscattered rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is likely to occur over Swat, Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mohmand, Bajaur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Peshawar, Khyber, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, and Abbottabad districts. The districts of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Orakzai, DI Khan, and North and South Waziristan are also susceptible to isolated rain-thunderstorms with strong winds.

Most parts of the province saw dry and partly overcast weather over the last 24 hours. Nonetheless, the Bannu district had a single rain-thunderstorm and the rain recorded in Bannu is 02mm.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at different stations of KP are as follows: The minimum temperature recorded in the province was 00°C in Kalam.

City Weather Update

The local Met Office issued a 24-hour prediction for Bahawalpur that called for dry to partly cloudy weather. The highest maximum temperature 36°C and the lowest minimum 21°C were recorded during last 24 hours. For the rest of the region, dry to partly overcast weather has also been predicted.

The PMD predicted that some scattered dust thunderstorms/rains of moderate intensityfrom 17 to 20 Marchare likely to occur in Hyderabad, Dadu Jamshoro, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Mirpurkhas, and Thatta districts.

The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) has warned Deputy Commissioners/ District Disaster Management Authority (DDMAs) Chairmen to take precautionary measures in their respective areas to lessen the suffering of the general public in light of the projection.

The district administrations have been ordered to make the necessary preparations and guarantee continuous electricity and water supply to the general public and for the hospitals. Helplines may also be established to stay in touch with the general public in case of an emergency.
