PMD Forecasts Continued Heat, Humidity for Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted hot and humid weather across most of the country for the next 24 hours.

 Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected at isolated locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, and northeast Balochistan.

The synoptic situation shows weak monsoon currents affecting central and upper parts of the country at lower tropospheric levels, alongside a westerly wave over the upper regions.

In the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed nationwide, with isolated rain and thunderstorms in eastern and central Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Recorded rainfall includes:

Punjab: Bahawalnagar 40mm, Sheikhupura 16mm, Okara 10mm, Noorpurthal 5mm, Faisalabad 4mm

Gilgit-Baltistan: Gilgit 2mm

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Drosh 1mm

Kashmir: Rawalakot 1mm

The highest temperatures recorded were Sibbi and Dalbandin at 47°C, Nokkundi at 46°C, and Jacobabad at 45°C.
