PMD Forecasts Cold Weather Across Country

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather across most parts of the country on Thursday, with very cold and partly cloudy conditions expected in hilly areas during the morning and night hours.

In Islamabad and adjoining areas, dry weather will prevail, with cold conditions during the early morning and night. Gusty winds are likely during daytime.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience cold and dry weather in most districts, while upper areas will remain very cold during morning and night hours. Northern parts of the province may see partly cloudy skies.

In Punjab, dry weather will continue across most districts, accompanied by cold mornings and nights. Very cold and dry conditions are expected in Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas. Gusty winds may blow in central and southern districts during the day.

Sindh will remain mainly dry, with gusty winds likely in coastal areas. Balochistan is also expected to witness cold and dry weather in most districts, while northern parts may experience very cold conditions during the morning and night.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to remain very cold with partly cloudy skies.

According to the PMD, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the past 24 hours. However, isolated rainfall was recorded in Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Pothohar region.

Rainfall was recorded in Muzaffarabad (22 mm in the city and 18 mm at the airport), Garhi Dopatta (13 mm), Rawalakot (8 mm), Kakul (13 mm), Pattan (12 mm), Balakot (10 mm), Saidu Sharif (2 mm), Murree (2 mm) and Attock (1 mm).

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded on Wednesday were -5°C in Leh and Bagrote, -4°C in Kalam, -3°C in Nathia Gali, Astore and Gupis, and -2°C in Skardu, Malam Jabba and Murree.

Major cities recorded the following temperature ranges: Islamabad 6°C to 23°C, Lahore 11°C to 25°C, Karachi 17°C to 29°C, Peshawar 6°C to 25°C, Quetta 2°C to 18°C, Gilgit 2°C to 17°C, while Skardu remained between -2°C and 9°C.
