PM Vows to Crush Terrorism, Says Enemies Fear Pakistan’s Economic Rise

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism, asserting that Pakistan’s enemies were threatened by the country’s economic progress.

“Our jihad against terrorism will persist until we uproot this menace completely. We will deal terrorists such a decisive blow that they won’t dare cast an evil eye on Pakistan again,” the prime minister said while chairing a high-level meeting on law and order.

Commending the efforts of law enforcement agencies and provincial governments, he assured full federal support to enhance the counter-terrorism capabilities of all provinces. He called for unity across political and institutional divides to collectively fight terrorism.

The prime minister lauded the bravery and sacrifices of security personnel and directed all institutions to intensify actions against smuggling and human trafficking. He emphasized the urgent completion of Safe City projects in major cities and endorsed efforts to promote a cohesive counter-terrorism narrative.

Officials briefed the prime minister on the establishment of a National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center under NACTA. It was noted that Safe City projects were operational in ten cities of Punjab and under implementation in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Nawabshah. Projects have also been approved for Peshawar, with future expansions planned for Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat.

The Gwadar Safe City project is nearing completion, and similar initiatives are being launched along National Highways N-25 and N-40. Digital enforcement stations are being set up to curb smuggling, while federal and provincial governments are actively dismantling illegal constructions and cracking down on organized begging networks, including efforts to restrict their international movements.

The meeting was informed that a Forensic Science Agency had been established in Islamabad, while the Punjab Forensic Science Agency is being further upgraded.

Among those in attendance were federal ministers Azam Nazeer Tarar, Mohsin Naqvi, Ahad Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, PM’s advisor Rana Sanaullah, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, KP CM’s Adviser Barrister Saif, GB Interior Minister Shamsul Haq Lone, AJK Interior Minister Col (R) Waqar Noon, as well as chief secretaries, inspectors general of police, and the Islamabad chief commissioner.
