High-Level Delegation to Explore New Avenues of Trade and Investment Cooperation
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia from October 27 to 29 at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9), the Foreign Office announced on Sunday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior cabinet members and government officials, will accompany the premier during the visit.
According to the Foreign Office, the FII9 summit, themed “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” will bring together global leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators to deliberate on strategies for sustainable and inclusive economic growth. The forum’s thematic discussions will cover key areas including innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion, and emerging geopolitical dynamics.
During his stay in Riyadh, Prime Minister Shehbaz is expected to hold meetings with the Saudi leadership to explore enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and human resource development. The talks will also address regional and global issues of shared concern.
On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister will engage with heads of state, international organizations, and global investors to promote Pakistan’s investment potential and highlight its commitment to sustainable development under the “Think, Exchange, and Act” framework.
The Foreign Office said the visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy and deepening strategic partnerships in investment, technology, and sustainability.
Over the past year, Islamabad and Riyadh have intensified their bilateral cooperation beyond traditional areas of engagement. During Prime Minister Shehbaz’s last visit to Riyadh on September 18, both countries signed a landmark defence pact, agreeing that an attack on one would be considered an attack against both — marking a new chapter in Pakistan-Saudi relations.
