PM Shehbaz Performs Umrah During Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, currently on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, performed Umrah along with members of his delegation. During the pilgrimage, special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and the relief of the oppressed people of Gaza.
As part of his high-level diplomatic mission to the Kingdom, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral ties and matters of mutual interest, including economic cooperation and regional developments.
Committee Begins Assessment of Indo-Pak Conflict Damages
Meanwhile, back home, a high-level 15-member federal committee has officially begun its work to assess damages resulting from the recent Indo-Pak conflict. Acting on directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the committee convened its first meeting in Islamabad under the chairmanship of the federal interior secretary.
The committee has been tasked with completing a comprehensive assessment within 30 days and presenting its report to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The scope of the investigation includes evaluating civilian casualties, infrastructure damage, and broader national security implications.
Who’s Leading the Probe?
The committee comprises senior officials from multiple federal and provincial departments and agencies, including:
Punjab Relief Commissioner
Punjab Home Secretary
DIG Punjab
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Representatives from intelligence and security agencies
Committee members will be dispatched to conflict-affected areas to collect ground-level evidence and engage directly with impacted citizens. Officials involved in the process have emphasized their commitment to maintaining transparency and efficiency throughout the assessment.
The committee is scheduled to hold its second meeting after Eid to review preliminary findings and strategize the next phase of its investigation.
