PM Shehbaz Launches Anti-Riots Force to Tackle Violence and Unrest

Islamabad: In a decisive move to curb violence and unrest, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Thursday the formation of an Anti-Riots Force equipped with advanced training and international-standard equipment.

The force aims to prevent future incidents of violence and safeguard public and private property, private media reported on Friday.

During a high-level meeting to review the country’s law and order situation, the prime minister stressed that strict legal action would be taken against those damaging public assets or attacking security personnel.

He also called for a robust strategy to thwart any attempts to exploit political or personal motives to destabilize cities, including Islamabad.

The prime minister criticized recent protests that targeted government property and security forces, resulting in injuries and casualties among law enforcement personnel. “How can those who harm the nation claim to be revolutionaries?” he asked, condemning the actions of those he described as disruptive elements.

PM Shehbaz lauded the government’s restraint in dealing with armed individuals who, under the guise of peaceful protests, sought to create chaos. He highlighted the economic toll of these actions, noting that the country incurred billions in losses.

However, he expressed optimism, pointing out that the stock market recently crossed the 100,000 points mark once stability was restored.

The premier directed authorities to enhance the prosecution system, ensure swift legal action against violent elements, and hold those inciting unrest accountable. He underscored the importance of identifying and punishing masterminds behind such disruptions, emphasizing their detrimental impact on national security and economic stability.

The meeting, attended by key federal ministers, advisors, and senior officials, concluded with a renewed commitment to maintaining order and protecting the nation’s progress.

This announcement comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to safeguard the rule of law and prevent any attempts to exploit public sentiments for political gain.
