Pindi Records Over 1,000 Dengue Cases, Health Officials on High Alert

Rawalpindi: As many as 39 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 1,004 across the district.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Ijaz Ahmad informed that 21 patients had arrived from the Potohar town urban area, eight from the Municipal Corporation, four from Chaklala Cantonment, three from Taxila Cantonment and three from outside the district.

At least 129 patients were admitted to district hospitals, of whom 102 were positive cases and 902 were discharged after treatment, Dr Ijaz added.

Dr Ahmad said that the district administration had registered 40 FIRs (First Information Report), issued tickets to five, sealed one premise, and imposed a fine of Rs 114,000 against the violations of dengue SOPs during the last 24 hours.

During indoor surveillance, in the last 24 hours, the teams checked 20,564 houses, and larvae were found in 1,234 homes. While checking 7,639 places, the teams found larvae at 160 sites during outdoor surveillance, Ahmad revealed.

CEO urged the citizens to adopt precautionary measures, as September and October are crucial for dengue spread, and to remove stagnant water in outdoor and household settings to stop mosquitoes from breeding.
