PIA Flight Diverted to Karachi Due to Technical Issue
News Desk
Islamabad: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad to Canada was redirected to Karachi 10 hours after takeoff due to a technical issue.
As per a PIA spokesperson, flight PK 781 was over Russian airspace en route to Toronto when the Boeing 777 experienced a technical problem, prompting the diversion to Karachi. The aircraft safely landed in Karachi after the deviation.
The spokesperson mentioned that the technical fault was minor, but the captain opted to divert the flight rather than continue over the Atlantic Ocean.
The plane was taken to Karachi Engineering Base for repairs, benefiting from better facilities and spare parts availability.
Passengers from the flight were accommodated in an airport hotel in Karachi, with provisions made for food and transportation.
The departure of the flight from Toronto was rescheduled for 1 pm on Saturday to allow passengers ample time to rest before the extended journey.
