PIA Alters Flight Schedule Amid Dense Fog

News Desk

Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations were disrupted on Tuesday due to dense fog in several major cities, including Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, and Faisalabad, leading to temporary changes in flight schedules.

A PIA spokesperson said both domestic and international flights were affected as visibility at the impacted airports dropped significantly, creating challenges for the safe landing and take-off of aircraft.

The spokesperson added that the temporary schedule adjustments were made to ensure passenger safety and to avoid unnecessary delays during adverse weather conditions.

“During periods of severe fog, reduced visibility becomes a major operational concern, making flight operations highly sensitive and safety-dependent,” the spokesperson said.

PIA advised passengers to obtain the latest information regarding their flights before departing for the airport. Passengers have also been requested to contact the airline’s helpline at 786-786-111 to confirm the status of their respective flights prior to travel.

Fog-Related Accident Kills Two in Okara

At least two people were killed and one injured when a car overturned and plunged into a nullah due to dense fog in Okara early Tuesday morning.

Rescue sources confirmed that two occupants of the car died on the spot, while another sustained injuries in the accident caused by poor visibility. The private news channel reported that the vehicle lost control amid dense fog before overturning into the nullah.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and retrieved the victims from the wreckage. The injured individual was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were recovered and transported for postmortem.

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution while travelling during foggy conditions and to strictly follow safety guidelines to avoid accidents.
