Wah Cantt: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday raided an ice cream production unit on HMC Road, Taxila, and imposed a hefty fine on the manufacturer for multiple violations.

The crackdown resulted in the discard of 10,500 substandard ice creams, deemed harmful for consumption, particularly for children.

The PFA spokesperson cited the use of expired raw materials, the presence of insects, dirty walls, and a stinky environment in the processing area as reasons for the action.

Additionally, non-food grade and uncertified material was being used for packaging.

The raid was part of a broader campaign, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to clamp down on food adulteration and negligence.

The PFA urges consumers to be vigilant, read labels carefully, and report any complaints to their 1223 helpline number.
