Petrol Price Unchanged, Diesel Slashed by Rs3 per Litre

Islamabad: The federal government has released details of recent petroleum product pricing, announcing revisions in duties, levies, and margins on petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD).
According to the notification, diesel witnessed a reduction in customs duty and freight charges, while petrol saw an increase in its freight margin despite stable petroleum levies.
Diesel Pricing Changes
The customs duty on high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs2.58 per litre, while the exchange rate adjustment dropped by 13 paisa per litre. The petroleum levy on HSD remains unchanged at Rs77.10 per litre, with a carbon credit levy of Rs2.50 per litre. Additionally, the freight margin was cut by 14 paisa, and the extra margin reduced by 15 paisa.
Petrol Pricing Adjustments
On petrol, duties and taxes fell by 69 paisa per litre, but the exchange rate impact rose by 52 paisa per litre. The petroleum levy stays fixed at Rs78 per litre, alongside a carbon levy of Rs2.50 per litre. However, the freight margin on petrol was raised by 17 paisa.
Revised Prices
The government announced new fuel rates effective September 1, following a midnight update on August 31. The price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs264.61 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs3 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs269.99 per litre.
