PDMA’s Guidelines About Heat Waves, Heavy Monsoon in Punjab

Islamabad: Director General (DG) of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, Irfan Ali, emphasized on Tuesday that comprehensive guidelines have been formulated in response to the unprecedented heatwaves and heavy monsoon rains, following strict directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab.

In an interview with a private news channel, Ali highlighted the likelihood of heatwaves hitting Punjab during the ongoing month, urging the public to take timely precautionary measures.

He specifically pointed out that the plains of Punjab, especially major cities, are susceptible to the effects of heatwaves.

Ali stressed the importance of raising awareness among citizens about weather changes and the necessary precautionary measures.

He noted that the PDMA had already issued warnings regarding severe heatwave conditions expected in the coming week in upper, central, and south Punjab.

Furthermore, Ali mentioned that the Punjab Chief Minister had reviewed the pre-flood arrangements anticipated in June and July by the PDMA Punjab, expressing satisfaction with the preparations. He assured that all possible precautionary measures, particularly in low-lying areas, were being implemented.

Additionally, he stated that machinery and staff would be deployed to ensure swift relief and rescue operations in the event of urban flooding.

 On the CM’s directions all the departments concerned of Punjab will complete their preparations to tackle the upcoming monsoon rains and possible floods and ensure the safety of precious human lives.
