Peshawar: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a preemptive warning about upcoming rain and thunderstorms in the upper districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from next Tuesday through Saturday.

According to the PDMA, weak westerly winds are expected to enter the western regions of the country on Tuesday evening. District administrations have been alerted accordingly to prepare for the weather conditions.

Instructions have been issued by the PDMA to district administrations to proactively manage potential incidents caused by dusty winds, windstorms, and thunderstorms. They are also directed to ensure the readiness of both small and large machinery to respond to any emergencies.

Farmers are advised to adjust their watering schedules, especially in wheat harvesting areas, in line with the weather forecast.

Precautionary measures have been recommended for the public in case of strong winds, including staying away from power lines, unstable buildings, and large signboards. Tourists and residents in elevated areas are urged to stay informed about changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions.

Local populations in sensitive districts will receive messages from district administrations in their respective languages regarding the weather situation. In case of emergencies, all concerned agencies are instructed to maintain road connectivity and provide alternative routes if roads are closed.

Tourists should be informed about the weather conditions, and PDMA’s emergency operations center is fully operational. Any incidents can be reported to 1700 for immediate assistance.
