PDMA DG Reviews Flood Preparedness at Nullah Leh

Rawalpindi: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, on Monday visited Nullah Leh to review ongoing measures to tackle potential flooding in view of heavy monsoon rains.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Muhammad Saleem briefed the DG on the steps taken, including the phased cleaning of Nullah Leh and monitoring of its adjoining drains.
The DG was informed that WASA teams had been deployed in low-lying areas with heavy machinery, while special teams were constituted for the drainage of rainwater. The leaves of WASA staff had also been cancelled to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The PDMA chief expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Rawalpindi administration, directing all concerned institutions, including WASA, to remain on high alert to deal with any emergency situation.
