PDMA Advises Care in Hilly Regions During Snowfall

Islamabad: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised tourists and drivers, heading to hilly regions to relish the snowfall to exercise care in hilly regions to avert any potential risks.
Both residents and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in the face of challenging conditions, as extremely low temperatures are being recorded in the northern areas of the country, as per a tweet of PDMA.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of ensuring safety measures before embarking on the journey. The PDMA has directed local administrations to have the necessary machinery ready for road clearing in the event of landslides, rain, or snowfall.
PDMA officials also stressed the timely updating of tourists to enable them to take necessary precautions.
One tourist expressed the excitement of her children for snowfall, highlighting the joy of playing in the snow and making snowmen during this favorite time.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain, wind, thunderstorms with snow over hills, and isolated hailstorms are anticipated in various parts of the country.
Appreciating the diverse beauty of Pakistan, a female tourist acknowledged the array of weather and locations to explore.
Additionally, tourists are urged to contact the National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) helpline or check their website for real-time updates on road conditions. It is advised for travelers to ensure accommodation availability and carry essential medicines, warm clothing, and a 24-hour food supply.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) spokesperson emphasized special measures in tourist areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Ziarat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Public awareness is deemed crucial for a cautious approach during winter travels, according to the spokesperson.
