Peshawar: Residents of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa applauded the first ever Pashto-Chinese song on the remarkable 70-year friendship between Pakistan and China, describing the tune as a true reflector of people’s inner emotions in both nations.
The five minutes and fifty-two-second-long song titled ‘Two bodies, one soul’ is sung by the famous Pashto music duo of Sitara Younas and Sajjad Khan from Pakistan. While from China, the singers who performed were Lan Yueliang and Shao Feng.
The unique song starts with the words, “We, China and Pakistan, are two bodies and one soul; the friendship is selfless, and the whole world knows it”.
“The composition and voices are amazing, and the lyrics are straightforward and profound. What an excellent representation of the warm ties that bind Pakistan and China as brothers,” commented a viewer on social media.
Another viewer commented, “We heard a Chinese and Pashto mix of music for the first time in history. It was extremely great. While praising the song’s initiative, some advised listeners to watch and listen.”
The song was prepared by ‘China Window’ around a year earlier and re-launched on the occasion when both countries are celebrating the completion of ten years of the gigantic China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) agreement.
Headed by well-known journalist Amjad Aziz Malik, China Window is a Chinese cultural centre founded in Peshawar to give people the chance to learn about the culture of their friendly neighbour.
In the short time since its founding, China Window has given more than 100,000 individuals the chance to experience Chinese literature, art, and history through exhibitions, film screenings, and training.
The Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), Archaeology Department, Youth Directorate KP, and Islamia College Peshawar extended cooperation in preparation of the song.
China Window founder Amjad Aziz Malik said the idea behind composing a Pashto-Chinese song was to reflect the love people of Pakistan and especially of Pakhtunkhwa have for their all-time-tested Chinese friends.
