Pakistan’s Shahzeb Wins Gold in Asia Taekwondo Championship

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Shahzeb Khan secured the gold medal by defeating the Philippines’ Calamba in the -54 kg weight category final at the Asia Open Khyurogi Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia.
In a closely contested match, Calamba led the first round with 11 points to Shahzeb’s 6. However, Shahzeb made a strong comeback in the second round, winning 10-3, and then dominated the third round with an 18-0 victory, earning Pakistan its first gold medal in the event.
Earlier, Shahzeb had advanced to the final by overcoming Indonesia’s Hidayat Tomakaka in a thrilling semi-final, with scores of 12-14, 16-14, and 22-0.
Meanwhile, in the +87 kg weight category final, Kazakhstan’s Kablan secured the gold by defeating Pakistan’s Hamza Saeed with a score of 5-1 and 4-4.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation President Col. (R) Waseem Janjua and CEO Omar Saeed extended their congratulations to Shahzeb for winning the gold and Hamza for earning the silver medal.
