Pakistan’s Medal Hopes Dashed as Nadeem Exits
News Desk
Islamabad: Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem said an injury setback hampered his performance after failing to secure a medal in the men’s javelin final at the World Athletics Championships 2025.
Nadeem, who bowed out after failing to qualify for the top eight, began with an 82.73m throw, followed by a foul, and managed 82.75m on his third attempt. His fourth throw was also ruled a foul, cutting short his campaign.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nadeem expressed gratitude to his fans for their “unwavering support” and disappointment at not delivering the result he had hoped for.
“I know I let you all down, but I promise to come back stronger and work even harder to make you proud. To be honest, I’ve been dealing with an injury since July 4th, which affected my preparation and fitness level. Despite this challenge, I gave it my all,” he said.
He pledged to “keep pushing” for Pakistan and return better prepared for future events.

Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago clinched the world title with a throw of 88.16m, his first major victory since the 2012 Olympics. Grenada’s Anderson Peters took silver with 87.38m, and American Curtis Thompson secured bronze with 86.67m — marking the USA’s first men’s javelin medal since 2007.
India’s Sachin Yadav placed fourth with a personal best of 86.27m, ahead of Germany’s Julian Weber, who managed 86.11m despite leading the world rankings earlier in the season. Kenya’s 2015 world champion Julius Yego withdrew after injuring his ankle on his third attempt.
