Pakistan’s Haider Ali Arrested in UK, Provisionally Suspended by PCB

Islamabad: Pakistan cricketer Haider Ali has been provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his arrest in England in connection with a rape allegation currently under investigation by the Greater Manchester Police.

According to a police statement, a 24-year-old man was arrested after a report was filed on Monday, August 4, 2025, concerning an alleged incident that took place on July 23 at a premises in Manchester. The man, identified by officials as Haider Ali, has since been released on bail as investigations continue. Authorities confirmed that the alleged victim is being supported by dedicated officers.

The PCB responded by placing Ali under immediate provisional suspension, stating that it “fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom” and will await the outcome of the investigation before considering any further action under its Code of Conduct.

“Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action,” the board said in an official statement.

Ali, 24, has represented Pakistan in 35 T20 Internationals and 2 ODIs since making his international debut in 2020. He was currently touring England with the Pakistan A team at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
