Pakistan’s First Literature Museum in the Making

Islamabad: The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has initiated efforts to acquire manuscripts and other essential artifacts for the nation’s inaugural literature-focused museum of Pakistani languages, currently under development at the academy.

Dr Najiba Arif, Chairperson of PAL, said that the establishment of the Literary Museum aims to safeguard and celebrate the distinctive literary heritage of all the regional languages across the country.

In addition to preserving and promoting the diverse linguistic richness of Pakistani culture, this museum will offer visitors the opportunity to explore information about scripts, historical context, alphabetical details, folklore, and significant literature from Pakistan’s various regional languages, she elaborated.

Dr Najiba Arif said that the museum would provide information about all the regional languages being spoken in the length and breadth of the country in form of scripts, booklets, audios and video documentary display.
