Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem Breaks Olympic Record, Secures Gold

Islamabad: Javelin star Arshad Nadeem made history on Wednesday by not only setting a new Olympic record but also securing Pakistan’s first-ever individual gold medal at the Olympics in 40 years.
The 27-year-old, hailing from Mian Channu, achieved a remarkable throw of 92.97 meters, surpassing the previous Olympic record held by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen from the 2008 Beijing Games.
Following his historic win at the Paris Olympics 2024, Pakistani celebrities have been quick to extend their congratulations.
Celebrity couple Hira and Mani expressed their excitement, with Mani stating, “Pakistanis should start respecting sports and sportsmen,” and saluting Arshad for his exceptional performance.
Host and actor Fahad Mustafa celebrated the achievement with, “Arshad Nadeem, God bless you. Pakistan Zindabad!”
Singer Faakhir Mehmood conveyed his pride, saying, “Arshad has made my heart happy. We are so proud of you. Pakistan Zindabad.”
Actor Mahira Khan took to Instagram to marvel at the throw, writing, “What a throw! Breaking records, yes sir.”
Ushna Shah shared her joy on Instagram, noting, “Teary-eyed, big smile, and now [got to] replace this MJ [Michael Jordan] with an AN [Arshad Nadeem] one.”
Sajal Aly celebrated the historic win, posting on her Instagram Story, “Gold medal in the Olympics after 32 years in Pakistan. History made.”
Comedian Ahmad Ali Butt suggested that Arshad deserves a “brand new house, brand deals, sports academy, and more because he’s proven he’s the best.” He also hinted at a potential biopic, tagging actor Humayun Saeed.
Aiman Khan simply wrote, “Champion.” Many other actors have joined in praising Arshad Nadeem for his outstanding achievement and for making Pakistan proud.
