Islamabad:  Pakistan’s young athletes from Swat made history by winning four medals at the MBW International Taekwondo Championship 2025 in Malaysia, an event featuring over 4,200 participants from 32 countries.

Ayesha Ayaz, Pakistan’s youngest taekwondo champion, secured both a gold and a bronze medal, reaffirming her status as a rising star in international martial arts. Her elder brother, Mohammad Zaryab Khan, brought further pride by clinching a gold medal through dominant performances. Their youngest sibling, Gulalai Ayaz, was declared Best Fighter of the Tournament and won a bronze medal for her spirited display.

This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that three siblings have collectively won four medals at an international taekwondo event, sparking celebrations in Swat and across the country.

“I thank Almighty Allah for this success. I am grateful to my father, who has been my strongest support, and to everyone who believed in me,” said Ayesha Ayaz after her win. She also acknowledged the encouragement of Hassan Nisar, CEO of Metrix Pakistan, for supporting her journey.

Sports analysts said the siblings’ achievement highlighted the potential of Pakistan’s athletes if provided with institutional backing, improved training facilities, and greater international exposure. They stressed that martial arts and other underrepresented sports deserve more attention to help Pakistan emerge as a formidable force on the global stage.
