Pakistan Wins IBSF Snooker World Cup Team Title

Islamabad: Pakistan clinched the IBSF Snooker World Cup Team Championship on Sunday after a dramatic comeback, defeating Hong Kong China 2 by 3-2 in a thrilling best-of-five frames final.
The Pakistani duo of former world champion Muhammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal produced two exceptional century breaks in the deciding phase to secure the title, overcoming a 2-1 deficit to claim victory. Hong Kong’s team comprised Chau Hon Man and Nansen Wan.
Hong Kong took an early lead when Chau defeated Iqbal 94–0, aided by an 85 break, putting Pakistan under immediate pressure. Pakistan bounced back in the second singles frame as Asif delivered a brilliant 82 break, defeating Nansen 95–17 to level the contest.

Hong Kong regained the lead in the doubles frame, winning 84–41, but the momentum shifted during the reverse singles. Asif produced a 100 break to beat Chau 100–36, bringing Pakistan level at 2-2.
The championship came down to the final frame, where Iqbal rose to the occasion with a 104 break, defeating Nansen 104–0 and completing Pakistan’s comeback for the 3-2 win. Frame scores were: 0–94 (85), 95–17 (82), 41–84, 100–36 (100), 104–0 (104).
The triumph adds another milestone to Muhammad Asif’s illustrious career, marking his seventh world title, which includes three team world championships, three individual world titles, and one World Masters crown.
Pakistan’s experienced duo of Muhammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal defeated India’s Pankaj Advani and Brijesh Damani 3-1 in the semi-final of the Team Snooker World Cup at the Active Oman Sports and Entertainment Hub in Muscat on Saturday.
Reigning International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) world champion Muhammad Asif led Pakistan’s charge, dominating the second frame with a 120-23 victory over Damani, highlighted by a brilliant 77-point break to level the contest at 1-1.
