Dubai: Pakistan U19 defeated India U19 by a commanding 191-run margin in the final of the U19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai, claiming their second title and first since 2012.
Pakistan were powered to a massive total of 347/8 in 50 overs, led by opener Sameer Minhas’ scintillating 172 off just 113 balls. Minhas reached his century in a mere 71 balls and played an innings studded with elegant strokes, smashing 17 fours and nine sixes as he carted the Indian bowlers around the park. His knock also set the record for the highest individual score in a U19 Asia Cup final.
Pakistan started strongly with the ball as well, removing India’s top three batsmen — Ayush Mhatre, Aaron George, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi — inside the first five overs, denting the chase before it had begun properly. India eventually were bowled out for 156, handing Pakistan the largest victory in the history of U19 Asia Cup finals.
Minhas’ performance earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards. He had also scored 177 in the group stage.
The Pakistan bowling attack, featuring Abdul Subhan, Mihammad Sayyam, and Ali Raza, dismantled the remaining Indian batting lineup, while Deepesh Devendran emerged as the top scorer for India.
During the trophy presentation, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi awarded Pakistan with the U19 Asia Cup 2025 trophy and medals. Pakistan captain Sameer Minhas was carried on the shoulders of his teammates following the victory, as celebrations erupted within the team.
Indian captain Ayush Mhatre said, “We were sure we wanted to bowl first. We just had an off day. They batted really well, we could have bowled a little better.”
This win marks Pakistan’s second U19 Asia Cup title. The team last won the competition in 2012, when it shared the trophy with India after the final ended in a tie.
