Pakistan Trio Make Big Gains in ICC Standings

Islamabad: Pakistan’s T20 stars have surged in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC)on Wednesday, following the conclusion of the Super Eights stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Sahibzada Farhan has emerged as one of the standout performers of the tournament, climbing to second place in the T20I batter rankings with a career-best rating.

The right-handed opener etched his name in history by becoming the first player to score two centuries in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Farhan’s latest century came against the Sri Lanka national cricket team in Pallekele, capping a prolific run that saw him amass 383 runs in the competition.

He has now moved ahead of England’s Phil Salt and sits just 26 rating points behind India’s Abhishek Sharma at the top of the batting charts.

His consistent performances at the top of the order have provided Pakistan with strong starts throughout the tournament, significantly boosting the team’s campaign.

Pakistan also enjoyed upward movement in the bowling rankings, with mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed rising two places to third among T20I bowlers. 

Abrar’s steady climb has brought him within 18 rating points of India’s top-ranked spinner Varun Chakravarthy. His economical spells and timely breakthroughs have underlined his growing influence in the shortest format.

In the all-rounders’ list, Saim Ayub slipped one position to third but remains firmly among the elite performers. India’s Hardik Pandya moved up to second place, while Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza continues to lead the category.

Elsewhere in the batting standings, India’s Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma advanced within the top 10, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis rose to eighth, and Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett made a notable six-place jump to 11th after an impressive showing in the tournament.

The latest rankings reflect Pakistan’s strong presence across departments as the team continues its push in the global T20 arena.
