Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Zaheer Ahmad Babar has forecasted a mix of cloudy and sunny weather during the first half of Ramadan, providing relief to the people.
A fresh spell of rain is set to begin on February 25 and will continue until early March.
In an exclusive interview with a private news channel, Babar stated that the upcoming rain spell will bring much-needed relief to the country, which has been experiencing dry conditions. He highlighted that the rainfall will help replenish water reservoirs and improve agricultural conditions, benefiting the sector significantly.
According to Babar, the expected weather pattern will make the fasting period relatively more comfortable for the public.
Responding to a query, he noted that a strong westerly weather system had already brought heavy rainfall to several parts of Punjab, northern areas, and Balochistan on Tuesday.
The downpour was accompanied by thunderstorms and snowfall in mountainous regions.
Intermittent showers, along with strong winds, hit various cities, and according to PMD’s forecast, rainfall will persist over the next few days, increasing the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas.
Babar urged the public to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates to ensure their safety.
Apart from rainfall in various regions, cloudy weather is also expected to persist in Sindh and other parts of the country, he added.
