Pakistan to Participate in Special Olympics World Winter Games

Islamabad: Pakistan’s special athletes will compete in snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games, scheduled for March 2025 in Torino, Italy. The event will feature over 1,500 athletes from 103 countries.
In preparation, Special Olympics Pakistan organized a 10-day training camp in Karachi for 20 selected athletes from across the country. The athletes received coaching in both technical and physical aspects of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, with snowshoes and skis specially imported for the camp.
Ronak Iqbal Lakhani, Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan, emphasized the importance of acclimating athletes to winter conditions, with a second phase of training planned for December at a cold location in Khanaspur or Naltar. She encouraged the athletes to continue their hard work and bring honor to Pakistan at the Winter Games.
