Pakistan to Join Google’s AI Overviews Ads Network This Year

News Desk

Islamabad: Google has announced plans to expand its “Ads in AI Overviews” feature to several Asia-Pacific countries later this year, including Pakistan. The move is set to open up new digital marketing opportunities for local businesses by allowing them to place advertisements directly within AI-generated summaries on Google Search.

Used by over 1.5 billion people worldwide, AI Overviews are transforming the way users interact with search results, contributing to more than a 10% increase in commercial search queries. With the integration of ads into these AI-powered summaries, Pakistani businesses will now be able to connect with potential customers more effectively — from discovery to decision-making.

This ad format leverages Google’s advanced AI to analyze user intent and match it with relevant content, making ads more context-aware. By understanding both the search query and the AI-generated overview’s context, businesses can place themselves as a logical next step in the user’s journey — especially during high-relevance moments that were previously difficult to target.

The initiative is part of Google’s broader suite of AI-driven marketing tools aimed at helping brands adapt to the changing digital landscape.

Key offerings include:

AI Max for Search: Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, this tool generates ad headlines based on website content and user behavior. It reduces the need for extensive keyword lists and delivers a conversational search experience with enhanced reasoning and contextual ad placements.

Creative Tools Using Imagen and Veo: These tools enable brands to generate unlimited high-performing image and video content variations for advertising, helping to enhance creative reach and effectiveness.

Smart Campaign Assistant: An AI-powered assistant within Google Ads and Analytics that generates, optimizes, and manages ad campaigns in real-time, providing insights and reducing manual workload.

AI-Driven YouTube Creator Matchmaking: A new feature that helps brands find and collaborate with YouTube creators using smart filters such as audience demographics, trending topics, and engagement data — enabling seamless content promotion as ads.

Commenting on the development, Sapna Chadha, Vice President for Google Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier, said:

“As consumer journeys grow more complex and marketing resources are stretched, we’re equipping marketers with our most intelligent tools yet — faster, more creative, and more personalized.”

The upcoming rollout of these AI-powered advertising solutions in Pakistan is expected to significantly benefit local marketers by enhancing visibility, improving audience targeting, and simplifying campaign management — all while keeping them competitive in a rapidly evolving digital space.
