Wellington: The Pakistan national cricket team is set to take on New Zealand in the final T20I of the series at the Wellington Regional Stadium on Wednesday.

With the series already decided in favor of the Black Caps, the match serves as a dead rubber but presents an opportunity for Pakistan to regain momentum ahead of the upcoming ODI series.

According to team sources, changes are expected in Pakistan’s playing XI, with key players Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan likely to be rested. The management is considering giving fringe players a chance to showcase their skills in the final encounter.

Speaking ahead of the match, Pakistan’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood acknowledged the team’s struggles but emphasized their determination. “There exists fighting spirit in the team despite defeat in the last T20I,” he said.

He also stressed the need for adaptability in the final fixture, stating, “We will have to adjust to the conditions in the final T20I.”

Mahmood admitted that while individual performances have been promising, the team has failed to deliver collectively. “The individual performances are coming, but as a unit, the performance is not up to the mark,” he remarked.

With the series already lost, Pakistan will look to end on a high note, while New Zealand will aim to maintain their dominance at home.
