Pakistan Reports Eighth Monkeypox Case of the Year

Islamabad: A 32-year-old man from Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been diagnosed with monkeypox after arriving from a Gulf country, marking the eighth case of the virus in Pakistan this year.

The patient, who landed at Islamabad airport on Wednesday, is currently receiving treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). 

Prof Dr Naseem Akhtar, head of the Infectious Diseases Department at PIMS, confirmed that the patient’s condition is stable.

Federal authorities have highlighted the importance of vigilance as the country continues to monitor and manage monkeypox cases.
