Pakistan Reaches 40 Poliovirus Cases This Year

Islamabad: Another case of poliovirus has been confirmed in Pakistan, bringing the total number of reported cases to 40 this year.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) revealed that a two-and-a-half-year-old child in Darra Adam Khel, Kohat, has been diagnosed with Type 1 wild poliovirus.

This marks the second polio case reported from Kohat this year; a previous case was recorded earlier this month in the same district.

Additionally, four sewage samples collected from Kohat tested positive for the poliovirus. Earlier this month, two polio cases were also reported from the Sanghar and Mirpurkhas districts in Sindh.
