Islamabad: Pakistan moved a step closer to qualifying for the Hockey World Cup after defeating Austria to register their third consecutive victory in the ongoing qualifiers in Ismailia, Egypt.

With the win, Pakistan have secured a place in the semi-finals and now need just one more victory to book a direct ticket to the World Cup, a tournament they have not featured in since 2018.

Pakistan dominated the match against Austria, leading 2-0 until the end of the third quarter. The Green Shirts intensified their attack in the final quarter, adding two more goals to seal a comprehensive 4-0 triumph.
