Multan: Pakistan tightened its grip on the Multan Test as England struggled at the close of the second day, trailing by 127 runs with a score of 239/6 in response to Pakistan’s first-innings total of 366.
England’s top-order batsmen faced a stern challenge from Pakistan’s bowlers, with Ben Duckett standing out with an impressive 114 before being dismissed by Pakistan’s relentless spin attack.
Joe Root added 34, while Ollie Pope (29) and Zak Crawley (27) failed to convert their starts into substantial scores. Late wickets, including captain Ben Stokes (1) and Harry Brook (9), further compounded England’s troubles.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Sajid Khan, who took four key wickets, and Nauman Ali, who claimed two, keeping England under constant pressure.
Earlier, Pakistan resumed their innings at 315/6 and added valuable runs before being bowled out for 366. Mohammad Rizwan contributed 41, with Aamir Jamal (37) and Nauman Ali (32) playing vital roles to boost Pakistan’s total.
With England still trailing and only four wickets in hand, Pakistan aims to consolidate their advantage and push for a decisive victory in this fiercely contested series.
