Pakistan Faces No US Pressure to Recognise Israel: Ambassador
News Desk
Dallas: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has categorically stated that there is no pressure from Washington on Islamabad to recognise Israel, reaffirming that the country’s stance on the matter remains unchanged and rooted in national interest and foundational principles.
Speaking at a community gathering in Dallas, Ambassador Sheikh clarified that Pakistan’s foreign policy decisions are guided by its independent priorities.
“There is absolutely no pressure from the United States on Pakistan to recognise Israel,” he told attendees.
“Our position is aligned with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who supported the Palestinian cause and opposed the occupation of their land.”
His remarks come amid shifting regional dynamics in the Middle East, particularly the normalisation of relations between several Arab states and Israel under the US-brokered Abraham Accords.
Despite these developments, Pakistan has maintained that any decision regarding Israel will only be considered in the context of a just and lasting solution for Palestinians.
Addressing broader Pakistan-US relations, Ambassador Sheikh expressed optimism, noting that bilateral ties are on an upward trajectory.
“We are witnessing a positive turn in Pak-US relations,” he said, highlighting expanding cooperation in various sectors.
The ambassador also spoke about emerging opportunities in the digital economy, particularly the potential of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies in Pakistan.
“Pakistan has surplus electricity which can be utilised to support tech-based industries, including cryptocurrency,” he noted, encouraging the Pakistani diaspora to invest in the country’s digital finance and innovation sectors.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Ambassador Sheikh assured that the country would never compromise on its national security.
He also met with members of the Pakistani-American community, urging them to actively contribute to strengthening Pak-US ties and promoting Pakistan’s interests in the United States.
