Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the deputy head of mission at the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday, delivering a strong protest over a recent militant attack at an Army cantonment in Bannu.

The attack resulted in the martyrdom of eight soldiers and left several others injured, according to the Foreign Office.

The terrorist attack was perpetrated by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, based in Afghanistan. This group, along with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is responsible for numerous terrorist attacks within Pakistan, leading to the deaths of hundreds of civilians and law enforcement officials.

Pakistan expressed serious concerns over the continued presence of terror outfits within Afghanistan that threaten its security. The Foreign Office emphasized that such incidents undermine the spirit of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Interim Afghan government was urged to conduct a thorough investigation and take immediate, robust, and effective action against those responsible for the Bannu attack. Pakistan also called for measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks from Afghan territory.

The Bannu Cantonment attack underscores the significant threat posed by terrorism to regional peace and security.

Pakistan reiterated its call for decisive action against terrorism and affirmed its commitment to combat this menace, ensuring its security against all threats.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned a terrorist attack on the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in DI Khan.
She paid rich tribute to the lady health visitor and children martyred in the line of duty.
