Islamabad: Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office, offered the deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and government of Iran.
In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps confirmed the deaths of Generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi, along with five of their companions, in the missile attack carried out by Israel on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus.
“The attack represents an unacceptable violation of Syria’s sovereignty and undermines its stability and security. It also constitutes a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter,” the spokesperson remarked.
Baloch emphasized that attacks against diplomats or diplomatic facilities are illegal under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
She further stated that the Israeli forces’ irresponsible actions represent a significant escalation in an already volatile region
“We call on the UN Security Council to intervene and prevent Israel from further destabilizing the region through its adventurism and illegal acts, including attacks on its neighbors and targeting foreign diplomatic facilities,” she added.
