Pakistan Approves First AI Policy, Targets 3M Jobs by 2030

Islamabad: Pakistan has approved its first National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, a landmark initiative aimed at creating three million jobs in the AI sector by 2030 and boosting the country’s GDP by 7–12 percent.
Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said the policy offers a comprehensive roadmap for AI development, ensuring the safe and responsible use of the technology while enabling Pakistan to compete in the global AI arena.
She said the initiative is designed to strengthen the domestic tech ecosystem, foster innovation, and attract international collaboration to drive economic growth.
Pakistan, Romania to Deepen Technology Ties
In a separate development, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Magsi met Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan, where both sides agreed to expand cooperation in science and technology.
Romania invited Pakistan to participate in European funding programmes, which Magsi said could open “new avenues in technology” for the country. He noted that Romania is emerging as a major IT hub in Europe and is keen to strengthen partnerships with Pakistan in the tech sector.
