Pakistan Achieves Success with ‘Fatah-II’ Rocket System Test
News Desk
Rawalpindi: Pakistan successfully conducted a test flight of its domestically built guided multi-launch rocket system known as ‘Fatah-II’ on Wednesday.
The system boasts a 400-kilometer range and is equipped with advanced avionics, a sophisticated navigation system, and a unique flight trajectory, as announced by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In August 2021, Pakistan also tested the Fatah-I guided multi-launch rocket system, which had a range of approximately 249 miles, a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 87-mile range.
The Fatah-II, based on footage released by ISPR, appears to be a two-round guided multiple launch rocket system mounted on the Chinese Taian TAS5450 eight-wheel drive chassis.
Frank O’Donnell, a nonresident fellow at the Stimson Center and a senior research adviser at the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network, highlighted that Pakistan’s development of the Fatah 2 signifies the country’s advancements in precision strike artillery systems.
He suggested that the weapon might target India’s S-400 air defense system, potentially acting as a decoy to facilitate other strategic strikes.
