Islamabad: Bilal Ilyas Jahangir, a 20-year-old youth from Pakistan, has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a unique record in the Guinness Book of World Records.
He successfully recognized and identified 30 songs by the renowned American singer Taylor Swift in just one minute, securing his place in the record books.
According to the official Guinness Book of World Records website, Bilal is an avid fan of Taylor Swift and surpassed the previous record of 27 songs recognized in one minute, held by Briton Dan Simpson in 2019.
To achieve this feat, Bilal listened to the opening lyrics of 50 of Taylor Swift’s best-selling songs without any accompanying music, demonstrating an impressive knowledge of her extensive discography.
More interestingly, the songs were not performed in Taylor Swift’s original voice but by other artists. Bilal expressed that this record highlights his immense admiration for Taylor Swift, revealing that he listens to her songs daily.
To prepare for this challenge, he dedicated 13 weeks to familiarize himself with as many songs as possible. Bilal emphasized the difficulty of recognizing lyrics in a different voice compared to Taylor Swift’s.
During the intense preparation period, Bilal revealed that he even found himself humming the lyrics in his sleep.
This achievement marks Bilal’s third Guinness World Record title. Previously, he held records for identifying the most animals in one minute based solely on their sounds in 2021.
In 2023, he surpassed American singer Justin Bieber’s record for delivering the most songs in one minute. Despite these accomplishments, Bilal considers the Taylor Swift cover recognition record to be his favorite.
