Rawalpindi: The District Health Authority (DHA), Rawalpindi, has successfully vaccinated 914,092 children during the ongoing February 2026 National Immunization Days (NID) campaign, achieving 92 percent of the district’s overall target, officials said on Friday.
According to DHA data, house-to-house vaccination teams have already completed 99 percent of their planned coverage, reflecting strong field performance across the district.
Officials said the campaign’s aggressive “out-of-house” strategy played a key role in closing coverage gaps, with 227,083 children vaccinated outside their homes. Mobile teams targeted high-traffic and transient locations, including schools, transit points, and guest households, immunizing 89,543 children in schools, 33,743 at transit points, and 51,606 visiting other households.

Field teams also demonstrated high efficiency in addressing operational challenges. Through systematic follow-up, 127,075 children initially recorded as “not available” were traced and vaccinated on the same day. In addition, community engagement and counseling efforts resulted in the conversion of 822 refusal cases.
Chief Executive Officer of DHA Rawalpindi, Dr Ehsan Ghani, commended the dedication of field workers, supervisors, and monitoring staff for their sustained efforts.
“The successful vaccination of more than 914,000 children and the prompt recovery of unavailable cases reflects the commitment and professionalism of our teams,” he said, expressing special gratitude to all those involved in the campaign.
The NID polio vaccination drive is continuing across the district to ensure maximum coverage and protect children from the virus.
