Over 900,000 Children to Receive Polio Drops in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: A week-long anti-polio campaign is set to kick off in three tehsils of the district starting April 29, aiming to vaccinate more than 906,011 children under the age of five.
Dr Ejaz Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Health Authority, shared with APP that vaccination efforts will target children residing in Rawalpindi City, Cantonment, Tehsil Rawalpindi (Rural), Gujar Khan, and Taxila.
District Superintendent Vaccination, Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, revealed that the campaign will deploy 2,834 mobile teams, 677 area incharges, and 192 Union Council Medical Officers. Their collective effort aims to ensure comprehensive immunization coverage across the designated areas.
Furthermore, 269 fixed centers will be established to administer the drops, with anti-polio doses also being provided at 125 transit points.
Additionally, teams will be stationed at toll plazas to ensure that every child receives immunization without any oversight.
Dr Nadeem emphasized that the consistent implementation of anti-polio campaigns aims to safeguard children by boosting their immunity through protective drops.
He urged citizens, especially parents, to actively participate in efforts to eradicate the disease from society, stressing the importance of their cooperation in achieving the campaign’s objectives.
Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema instructed health authority officials to carry out their duties as a national obligation, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for any negligence during the campaign.
