Over 600 Hospitalised in Faisalabad After Eid Food-Related Illnesses

Faisalabad: More than 600 residents were admitted to Allied, Civil, and General Hospitals in Faisalabad after suffering from gastroenteritis, reportedly triggered by the consumption of unhygienic and overly spicy food during Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

According to health department sources, a significant number of patients began arriving at hospitals over the weekend, complaining of stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Medical experts have attributed the surge in cases to excessive intake of oily and spicy foods commonly prepared during Eid.

“People should practise moderation and follow proper hygiene protocols while preparing and consuming food, especially during festive occasions,” advised doctors at Allied Hospital.

In addition to gastro cases, over 150 individuals were injured while performing animal sacrifices, many of whom were inexperienced butchers. They were treated in the emergency departments of local hospitals for knife wounds and other related injuries.

Health officials have urged the public to exercise caution during future celebrations to avoid preventable health emergencies.
